What kind of makeup services can you provide? As you can see from my website my makeup skills vary from beauty to body painting to fun Halloween and costume looks! I also love to do private 1-on-1 lessons, group lessons, runway makeup, photoshoots, and loves to participate in various events and fundraisers. If there is something special that you have in mind please ask!
What kind of makeup do you use? A lot of the makeup in my kit is from MAC Cosmetics. I used to work for the company so I am very familiar with the ingredients and different product types and uses. I have different formulas in a variety of colors to customize the coverage for different skin types and can match all skin tones. If you have an allergy or sensitive skin we can always do a test to see how your skin reacts before doing a full application. Please let me know if you have any specific concerns as I am happy to work with you to find a solution!
What kind of lashes do you use? I use both individual and strip lashes that are temporary and easy to remove. The individual lashes rest right in line with your natural lashes and can be completely customized in length and fullness. Strip lashes vary from natural to dramatic and are tailored to your eye shape for a comfortable fit. For all lash applications I use Duo glue, which is a waterproof adhesive that lasts all day and night yet still removes easily with makeup remover. The original Duo lash glues are latex based, so if you have a latex allergy please let me know so I can use the latex-free formula I keep in my kit.
Do I need to provide any of my own products for the makeup application? It may be a good idea to have a couple products with you for touching up throughout the day/night! If you have an oily skin type that ‘shines’ easily I would invest in a good blot powder and a soft powder brush for touch ups. This product will not add any coverage, just take away shine! The only other product you may want to provide would be lip products. I provide each client with a small jar and applicators to take their custom mixed lipstick with them for touchups, but you may want to purchase your own lipstick/stain/gloss to keep with you (especially if you prefer bold colors or liquid lipsticks) for an easy application, You can email me with questions or product recommendations, or I can even help you pick out a lip product in person if you need assistance!
What is included with the cost of my wedding makeup? A consultation that consists of a full makeup application, including false lashes, the wedding day makeup application, and travel to you within the city of Bellingham. With over a decade of experience in the bridal industry, a key part of my value is offering assistance to my brides with planning the “getting ready” part of the day to coordinate the makeup and hair to align with the full day schedule. Hiring experienced vendors adds extra assurance that the day runs smoothly and that you have a positive experience on your wedding day!
What are your rates and minimums for bridal makeup? What is the proper tipping etiquette? Please contact me for a quote! I have a minimum of 3 (bride + 2), for booking bridal services, unless otherwise agreed. It's common for me to book multiple weddings a day during the busy wedding seasons, so there is sometimes room to compromise on the minimums. If I have booked another wedding on the same day as yours I will have already discussed it with both wedding parties to make sure the timing doesn't conflict (this is on a first come first serve basis). As for tipping etiquette, I always say that tips are never expected, but always appreciated! Either way, the service you receive will be the absolute best.
What should I expect for the Bridal Consultation? I always suggest having an idea in mind for the makeup look that you'd like, although I am very comfortable with helping you decide this based on your personal style, face/eye shapes, etc. It is common for my clients to say "Just do what you think is best!". Google or Pinterest has tons of ideas that you can browse to get an idea of what you like or don't like. Please keep in mind that your eye/face shape may differ from the persons in the photo, so it is best to look for a similar eye/face shape/complexion when browsing. We will chat for a bit about your expectations and any questions you may have, then dive into the makeup application. Expect the trial run to take about 1.5-2 hours.
How far in advance do you book weddings? What do you need to reserve my day? It is typical for me to book weddings up to a year in advance, especially for weddings booked during the busy summer months! Please email me to check availability. To reserve your date I require a signed contract and a deposit, and it is helpful to know how many additional ladies would like their makeup done when reserving your wedding date. If I am booked on your wedding date I will be happy to to give you a referral for another artist! I can also offer a private lesson for the bride and a trusted bridesmaid, or friend who is comfortable with makeup application, where I will teach her how to properly apply the brides makeup. I will help with choosing products, colors, and teach the full application including lashes. It is a cost effective way to make sure you are prepared for your wedding day and you both get a fun makeup lesson!
What should I expect for the Wedding Day? Any tips for prepping the skin? I recommend wearing a button/zip up shirt or hoodie so you won't be pulling anything over your head that could mess up your hair and makeup. As far as prepping the skin, I don't recommend doing anything too out of the ordinary right before the wedding (like your first ever facial), but I would recommend getting into the habit of taking care of your skin as far in advance as possible (washing your face daily and using an exfoliator and face mask 1-2 times a week). If you have dry skin then please make sure you are hydrating and exfoliating your skin properly! If you have any questions or would like product recommendations please contact me! The night before and/or morning of your wedding I suggest exfoliating your face (including brows and lips) with an exfoliating product or a washcloth and following up with a moisturizer. If you would like to wear SPF you may wear/bring your preferred product, as I don’t normally keep SPF in my makeup kit. Last but not least, get a good nights rest!
Do you use airbrush or offer Tattoo cover? I have an airbrush machine which I usually use for body art and special projects. I prefer to use brushes for beauty makeup application because I love being able to customize the coverage and finish of foundations. I have multiple types of foundations in my kit so I will choose one (or more!) to use based on your skins needs. As for tattoos, I am usually able to cover any tattoo, but please let me know beforehand so we can discuss coverage options and pricing. We will also do a trial for the tattoo coverage to test out the best products and colors for the job!
Do you travel or offer on-site services? I will travel literally anywhere! There is no travel fee for on-site locations in Bellingham, and for locations outside of Bellingham I will calculate mileage, hourly, and any known incurring charges such as flight, ferry, parking, etc. and provide you with a quote.
Do you do wedding hair? No. I do, however, have an arsenal of talented hair stylist friends! Let me know if you would like a referral.
